BFAR Conducts Workshop and Oath Taking of New Mangingisdang Director

Dante C. Noces of Region 1 was recently elected as Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’ (BFAR’s) National Fisherfolk Director (NFD) for CY2019 at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay City.

During the National Election and Strategic Workshop last March 19-21, 2019, Mr. Noces, Robustiano Patayon, Jr. from Caraga, together with 12 other Regional Fisherfolk Directors (RFD) sworn into office as 2019 Fisherfolk Directors.

The Fisherfolk Directors Program of BFAR is based on the provisions of Department of Agriculture (DA) Special Order No. 88 series of 2005.

The “Mangingisdang Direktor Para sa Mas Matatag na Balikatan” states that one fisherfolk leader is chosen by their fellow fisherfolk leaders to act as BFAR Director at the national and regional levels respectively.

Ruben Timogan from Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, represented the Caraga Region in the national elections. He was 2018’s Regional Fisherfolk Director (RFD), Agusan del Norte’s Provincial Fisherfolk Representative (PFR) in 2017, a Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) Chairman, a Deputy Fish Warden, NAFFI (Nasipit Fisherfolk Federation Inc.) President, and an entrepreneur.
