BFAR Caraga joins in the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) Celebration
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources –Caraga Region partakes in the celebration of the annual National Science and Technology Week to showcase its various technological products as well as the latest trends and advancement in marine culture.
Headed by the Regional Director Dr. Juan D. Albaladejo, BFAR Caraga attended the opening of the weeklong activities of NSTW 2017 today, August 8, at Robinson Mall, Butuan City. In support to this year’s theme “Science for the People,” the said local institution exhibits its new technology for milkfish and lobster culture and shares how technology contributes to the better life of the fisher folks.
Another activity lined for the said festivity is the CARAT EXPO or the Caraga Agri-Trade and Marketing Exposition which will be hosted by BFAR on August 10. The promotion of the lobster product in the market and the development in modern and smarter agriculture will be presented in the expo alongside the developed technologies and products of various local agencies, companies, and institutions like DENR, DTI, DPWH, and TESDA.
A seminar for responsible mining will also be conducted.
The mentioned activities are just part of the series of events laid out by the Department of Science and Technology Caraga Region headed by its Regional Director Dominga D. Malongga. DOST Sec. Fortunato Dela Peña –who keynoted the opening, Vice Gov. Arturo Egay of Surigao del Norte, and Vice Gov. Ben Glen Ecleo of Dinagat Islands grace the opening of the celebration.
All the events from the opening to closing ceremonies will be held at the Atrium of Robinson Mall, Butuan City from August 8-13.
