DA-BFAR Caraga OIC Regional Director Dr. Nilo Selim Katada, together with DA Caraga Regional Executive Director Abel James I. Monteagudo and Regional Fisherfolk Director Eddie G. Matula, visited on Tuesday, May 25, the Nasipit Mariculture Park and graced the launching of the "Barangay Harvestahan" of the Fisherfolk Initiative for Sustainable Harvest Fishermen Cooperative (FISHCOOP) at Brgy. Talisay, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
In his message, RED Monteagudo stressed that agriculture should be perceived as a business venture in order to achieve the twin goals of DA for “masaganang ani at mataas na kita”.
Likewise, RD Katada encouraged the fisherfolk cooperative to continue to work together in flourishing their livelihood venture emphasizing on the need to strengthen their financial management and market linkages.
The FISHCOOP harvested around 2.3 tonnes of marketable milkfish, which is more than their expected harvest of 1.8 tonnes, from their mariculture venture.
