Lobster Culture Knowledge Sharing
In the pursuit to improve their management efforts in Lobster Culture, the Local Government Unit of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur earnestly requested and asked the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Caraga to conduct a knowledge sharing activity on successful lobster culture in the province of Dinagat Islands. The Province of Dinagat Islands particularly in Cagdianao has been known to have best practices in rearing lobsters that the Municipality of San Agustin would want to replicate. Thus, through the help of FishCoral Project, the said activity was pushed through today, July 17, 2017.
Heading the local government officials of San Agustin was their Honorable Mayor herself, Hon. Libertad O. Alameda. With her were the Vice-Mayor, the Sanguniang Bayan Members and key personnel from the Municipal Agriculture Office and Provincial Fishery Office of Surigao del Sur.
When the short program and the lecture on Lobster Culture Best Practices in Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands were done, an Open Forum was held to give the fisherfolks as well as the LGU of San Agustin a chance to ask questions regarding lobsters and other concerns related to it.
Part of the Knowledge Sharing activity on Successful Lobster Culture in the Province of Dinagat Islands was the lobster site visitation at Barangay Cabunga-an, and Sitio Sto.Niño, Cagdianao.
Participants from San Agustin, Surigao del Sur expressed much delight and excitement upon seeing the huge and ready-to-harvest lobsters in the fish cages.
