DA-BFAR Caraga initiates community pantry on its 74th founding anniversary
Celebrating its 74th founding anniversary, the DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) in Caraga Region initiated on Thursday, July 1, 2021 a community pantry/relief operation at La Flora, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur.
La Flora, a village along Agusan River, was chosen because it is one of the vulnerable fishing communities in Agusan del Sur. Every year, the river barangay experience being fully submerged in water for three months thus affecting their farming and fishing livelihood activities.
At least 204 households received grocery packages worth Php500 which was sourced out from the in-house fundraising activity of DA-BFAR Caraga officials and employees.
DA-BFAR Caraga key officials also paid a courtesy visit to Honorable Mayor Pauline Marie R. Masendo and discussed updates on the legislated hatchery project in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur.
This year's founding anniversary is anchored on the theme, "DA-BFAR: Matatag at Tapat sa Serbisyo Anuman ang Hamon ng Mundo Tungo sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita ng Mangingisdang Pilipino".
