[SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, May 17, 2019]

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – Caraga joined the province of Surigao del Norte in celebrating its 118th Founding Anniversary of One Surigao last May 14-15, 2019.

The Bureau, together with the provinces of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Province of Dinagat Islands, participated in the Agri-Aqua Trade Fair.

The activity showcased a fishery art (photo and painting) exhibit from BFAR, plus the best products (i.e., fresh vegetables, handicrafts and processed goods) from the three provinces.

The Celebration also highlighted the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the FishForever/Fishing for Climate Resilience Project between Rare Philippines and BFAR-Caraga, represented by Vice President Raquel Sanchez Tirona and Regional Director Visa Tan-Dimerin respectively.

Fish Forever is Rare’s comprehensive and community-led solution to revitalizing coral reefs, mangroves and seagrasses, protecting biodiversity, and securing the livelihoods of the coastal communities.

One Surigao was hosted by the Provincial Government Office of Surigao del Norte, led by Governor Sol F. Matugas. The event was held at the Surigao Sports Complex.
