Anao-aon Fisherfolk Beneficiaries Receive P1.3M Worth of Motorized FRP Boats
The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Caraga, upon the directive of Regional Director Visa Tan-Dimerin, spearheaded last August 30, 2019 the distribution of 25 units motorized fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) boats to 50 fisherfolk beneficiaries in the municipality of San Francisco (Anao-aon) in Surigao del Norte amounting to more than P1.3 Million.
The turnover ceremony of the 20-footer boats and 7.5 horsepower diesel engines at the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Site in San Francisco was in response to the request from the said local government, and was part of the response on the earlier commitment of the DA-BFAR national government.
The activity was attended by the beneficiaries, MFARMC chairperson, the municipal agriculture officer, San Francisco Vice Mayor Miguel Gastardo and BFAR Caraga F/B Pagbabago focal person Restituto Bautista.
In his message, Vice Mayor Gastardo was thankful for the FRP boats as additional livelihood given to the fisherfolk, and stressed that recipients should abide by what's stipulated in the guidelines.
