Fisherfolk associations in the municipalities of Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR) and Las Nieves participated in training and profiling activities aimed at strengthening organizational management and updating beneficiary records under the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Caraga Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase II, facilitated by the Provincial Fisheries Office of Agusan del Norte with resource speakers from the Regional Program Management Support Office from February 24 to 27, 2026.

Members of the Dalicanan Fisherfolk Association in Barangay Balangbalang, RTR, joined the activity, while the Maningalao Freshwater Fish Cage Operators Association and the Maningalao Super Moms Association in Las Nieves participated at their barangay evacuation center.

Participants attended various training discussions focusing on teamwork, people’s participation in community development, organizational commitment and volunteerism, leadership development, and networking among members and partner institutions to strengthen their understanding of organizational roles and responsibilities.

Through the collaborative efforts of the implementing team, communities covered under the BFAR-SAAD Program were visited to ensure fisherfolk associations receive guidance and support in strengthening their organizational operations and sustaining fisheries-based livelihood activities.

Meanwhile, profiling activities were conducted after the training sessions to update the socio-economic information of association members and validate beneficiary records under the said program for proper planning of future interventions and assistance.

The activity highlights SAAD’s continuing commitment to empowering fisherfolk communities by strengthening grassroots groups and promoting sustainable fisheries-based livelihood opportunities.
