The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Caraga recently conducted a Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) Users Training on Digital Signatures in Butuan City on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Conducted in partnership with the Cybersecurity Division of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Caraga, the activity aimed to equip the key officials and employees of the DA-BFAR Caraga with the tools necessary for securing electronic communications and streamlining the digital processes involved in government services through the use of individual digital signatures.
DICT planning officer II Reymar A. Estafia and planning assistant Jovelyn Logarta served as resource persons who provided a deeper understanding of utilizing digital signatures, how they work, and their role in securing electronic documents and improving workflow efficiency.
Highlight of the training was the hands-on session, where training participants were guided through the process of generating and using digital signatures. This practical application ensured that all attendees gained first-hand experience in utilizing digital signatures.
Regional director Omnia B. Olama is hopeful that the training would strengthen the ease and security of the agency’s handling of official documents, reports, and transactions, directly aligning with the government’s overall push toward digitalization.### (Ivy C.
