At least 20 Caraganon fisherfolk are the latest beneficiaries of the fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) fishing boats livelihood program of the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Caraga during the visit of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr., Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Covered Court, Butuan City.

President Marcos led the distribution of the FRP boats with complete accessories amounting to Php 1.8 million, as well as the various assistance and livelihood projects from other national government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture; Department of Social Welfare and Development; Philippine Coconut Authority; Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization; and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

The event also highlighted the launching of “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” in Caraga region which seeks to provide an avenue for farmers, fisherfolk and traders to sell agricultural goods and products directly to consumers, allowing them to earn higher profits while still providing quality products at an affordable price. The President also inspected the job fair spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment with 20 local employers and 3 overseas recruitment, providing 831 and 434 job vacancies, respectively.

PBBM, in his message, stressed the importance of investing in agriculture to create a better economy for the Filipino people. He also assured the public that the government will continue to put its best foot forward in providing support and assistance especially for those in need and those who have not fully recovered from the pandemic.

The President also encouraged the public to support the government in its pursuit of fulfilling the shared dreams and aspirations for the Filipinos and the beloved Philippines.
