Gender and Development (GAD) focal persons from the different services and programs of DA-Caraga, its regional line bureaus and attached agencies, and provincial local government partners, convened for a series of lectures on the application of the HGDG tool and focused-group discussions on HGDG tool analysis.

Regional Director Omnia B. Olama, in her welcome address, highlighted the importance of promoting gender equality in agriculture and fisheries to create more sustainable and equitable food systems, reduce poverty, and contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals.

Edson B. Alijo, Information Officer, from the Commission of Human Rights (CHR) Caraga, served as the official resource speaker of the said event.

Participants also paid a learning visit to Ata-atahon Rural Improvement Club, a women association and a recipient of DA-BFAR GAD-assisted project situated in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The 3-day training, which ran from February 22 to 24, 2023, aims to develop the capacities of the women and men employees under the DA Caraga Gender Focal Point System – as GAD advocates – to ensure that the Department’s programs, projects and activities are gender-sensitive and/or responsive.
