Outgoing Regional Director Dr. Nilo Selim Katada officially handed over the key of responsibility symbolizing the formal turnover of leadership to incoming Regional Director Omnia B. Olama in a simple ceremony held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Regional Fisherfolk Training Center in Butuan City.

Key officials and members of the management committee witnessed the turn-over ceremony. In her welcome remarks, Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division Chief, Anna Melissa M. Talavera, urged everyone to support the new management in promoting the mandates and in accomplishing the targets of the Regional Bureau. RFTFCD Chief Talavera also thanked RD Katada for his dynamic leadership, and likewise extended her well wishes for the newly installed RD Olama.

RD Katada conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to DA-BFAR Caraga for the utmost support and cooperation, and called on all employees to give RD Olama twice the support they gave him during his stint in the Regional Bureau. On the other hand, RD Olama said that decisions under her helm will be marked by integrity, public service and consideration for the common good.

In her acceptance speech, RD Olama challenged the employees to imbibe the core values of the DA-BFAR: integrity, professionalism, and innovativeness, in the pursuit of achieving the BFAR’s mandate – to increase production, and to nurture a resilient and empowered fishing communities.

“Our commitment to public interest should drive us to strive even more for the sustainable and inclusive development of the fisheries industry – especially in our region.

Let us continue to support one another, working harmoniously to achieve our goals in the Bureau.

And, finally, let us assert our efforts in modernizing and accelerating the fisheries industry, serving the underserved, and championing the cause of every Caraganon fisherfolk,” RD Olama expressed.

The newly installed RD Olama also administered the ceremonial oath-taking of the eight (😎 newly appointed and seven (7) promoted employees of DA-BFAR Caraga.
